Doing Good is a core value at Pound Gates and shapes how we operate as a business. We believe businesses can play a positive role in the communities they are part of, through time, expertise, long-term involvement and financial support.
Our work focuses on Suffolk, where close relationships, local knowledge and sustained involvement allow us to contribute in meaningful and practical ways.
Suffolk Community Foundation has enjoyed a successful partnership with the team at Pound Gates since 2013. We are proud to have been able to support and facilitate their commitment to doing good in the local community, resulting in grants worth more than £50,000 being awarded via their Acorn Fund. It is a pleasure to work alongside such a passionate and community-focused business, and we look forward to continuing our journey together to make Suffolk a better place for all.

Working locally enables us to build relationships over time and respond to the real needs of charities and community organisations. It keeps our support personal, informed and grounded in the county where our people live and work.
Our approach is flexible by design, allowing our support to evolve as needs change.
Our approach combines financial support with practical, hands-on involvement. We support local causes in ways that reflect what is most useful to the organisations involved. This includes:
Our support in Suffolk is built around long-term relationships, complemented by annual fundraising and responsive, one-off activity.
Our Acorn Fund, delivered in partnership with Suffolk Community Foundation, was established in 2014. The fund has awarded more than £60,000 in grants to 41 local charities and community organisations, supporting a wide range of causes across the county.
In 2015, we proudly helped establish and continue to co-sponsor the Ipswich Sporting Lunch Club, a SportsAid initiative. The club plays an important role in raising funds for young Suffolk athletes aspiring to compete at Olympic, Paralympic, Commonwealth and European levels. To date, funds raised from the lunches have supported over 90 young athletes towards their sporting ambitions.
Our annual fundraising events, including our Quiz and Golf Day, now support a chosen Suffolk-based charity each year. For 2026, funds raised will support Inspire. The beneficiaries may change annually, enabling us to support a range of causes over time.

Alongside this, we have established partnerships that play an ongoing role in how we support communities in Suffolk.

We are part of a wider Suffolk community of organisations and individuals working to support local causes. By collaborating with others and contributing where we can add value, we aim to play a constructive role within the county.
We continue to build on this work, sharing updates on the causes we support and the impact being made through our activities.
This is not a fixed programme. It reflects how we work, the relationships we build and the role we play within our community.
What remains constant is our commitment to contributing positively, acting thoughtfully and supporting the communities we are part of.
Our Doing Good story also includes The Soma Leo Foundation, a charity run by Pound Gates to provide education to primary-aged children in Western Kenya.
Launched in 2015, the charity was supported and overseen by Pound Gates for ten years, with the funding and hands-on involvement needed to run the school. This was a sustained commitment that played a central role in its development and impact.
While our current focus is now local, The Soma Leo Foundation remains an important part of our history. Its story and impact are shared on this dedicated page.
